Restoration of Victorian terraced cottage – Teddington
Project summary
Brimming with original charm but in need of modern upgrades and a better layout, this Victorian terraced cottage in Teddington was fully refurbished by Cube.
Across three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and an open-plan kitchen/diner, the home was reimagined for modern living while retaining its period character. Although the footprint was not extended, thoughtful layout improvements, such as the removal of an internal chimney breast, created additional space in the bedrooms. A newly built utility cupboard discreetly positioned under the stairs maximises space and practicality.
The strip-out revealed a few hidden surprises typical of an older property, including structural issues that were expertly resolved. A new structural bathroom floor, an insulated concrete floor to the rear ground floor and new internal stud walls ensure that the home is as strong and efficient as it is beautiful.
Enhanced insulation, soundproofing and renewed plumbing and heating systems have elevated the home’s comfort and performance. The result is a home that feels both enduring and contemporary — testament to a thoughtful, high-quality restoration.
