Rear extension and refurbishment – Twickenham

Project summary

Following a full ground floor refurbishment and the addition of a single-storey rear extension, our customer’s terraced house in Twickenham now reveals a surprisingly spacious and well-considered interior.

Having completed a loft conversion here in 2017, Cube was invited back to deliver the next phase of their renovation journey. This stage involved reconfiguring the ground floor to create a new kitchen, an open-plan kitchen/diner/living area, a utility room, hallway, a WC and understairs storage as well as building a new four-metre-long extension.

A part of the previously unused garage was transformed into a practical utility room, while the new rear extension now provides a generous open-plan space for living, dining and entertaining. Key to the project was a clear separation between two kitchen zones: one for everyday prepping and cooking, and another designed purely for hosting.

Cube answered this brief with a complete redesign of the main kitchen, enlarging the window openings to draw in more natural light and installing new cabinets, a dishwasher and an oven. The “entertaining kitchen”, positioned in the centre of the open-plan space, is equipped with a wine fridge, additional storage and a generous worktop – perfect for serving drinks and gathering with guests.

Large sliding doors and a stunning roof lantern form a natural light feature that has completely transformed the rear of this home into a bright, inviting hub. Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor adds the finishing touch to a home layout that has been designed with modern family living in mind.
