Wrap-around kitchen extension – Kew
Project summary
Our Kew customer asked Cube to transform the kitchen of their Victorian terraced house into a spacious and bright new hub. We answered their brief with a wrap-around kitchen extension and provided a full design-to-build service, from the initial consultation and planning drawings through to construction and final decorations.
The project included the demolition of the old extension, deep excavations, which were all hand-dug due to tight access, for new 2.4 metre deep foundations as well as installation of new structural steelwork to open up the rear of the house.
We built new insulated cavity walls using reclaimed bricks, installed a mix of pitched and flat roofing with a custom lead box gutter and a striking full-length glass roof to flood the new kitchen with daylight. Existing doors and windows were carefully reused or re-fitted where possible to preserve the home’s original character.
Other works included drainage upgrades, a new soakaway, full rewiring, heating improvements and high-quality finishes throughout. Despite challenges such as tight access, deep foundations and an unexpected old soakaway, the project ran smoothly thanks to Cube’s careful site management and focus on safety and cleanliness.
A bright, seamless kitchen extension now flows effortlessly from the rear reception to the garden, blending modern comfort with Victorian charm.
